Description
The EGI EOSC Node, operated by the EGI Foundation on behalf of the EGI Federation, acts as a primary multi-site EOSC Node for data-intensive computing, high-throughput analytics, and scientific data management across Europe. It provides scalable High-Throughput Computing (HTC) and cloud capacity tailored for large-scale data processing and delivers foundational EOSC Core capabilities, including AAI, helpdesk and monitoring. Most importantly it acts as a catching-all node for National Grid Initiatives (NGIs) and Research Infrastructures across EU member states to expose their services to the wider EOSC network. The talk will highlight the status of the EGI EOSC Node and introduce the EOSC Mesh project which is co-funding the Node setup.
EOSC Mesh (Connecting Nodes to Advance the EOSC Federation) is a Horizon Europe project that expands the European Open Science Cloud by establishing and connecting seven interoperable federating nodes—spanning key domains like biobanking (BBMRI), environmental science (ENVRI), and social sciences (SSHOC) into the EOSC Mesh Hub.
The project unites 46 European partners to deploy over 25 core, generic, and thematic federating capabilities. This provides a seamless continuum of compute, storage, and data services—granting researchers access to tools, workflows, datasets, and repositories through standard, open-science interfaces.
By supporting real-world, cross-domain use cases, EOSC Mesh drives cross-border collaboration, accelerates FAIR data practices, and streamlines scientific discovery across Europe.
