Description
As the complexity of cloud infrastructures increases, better mechanisms for
easy maintenance and deployment are needed.
Containers offer great potential in this area, promising to simplify deployment and maintenance tasks.
Considering the OpenStack ecosystem, which is the most
widely used cloud solution in EGI/fedcloud, there are several projects focused
in a modular deployment of OpenStack services based on containers.
One of the most promising is kolla, which uses ansible and docker containers to address the OpenStack services management and deployment.
In this work, the deployment of OpenStack using kolla at CESGA is
presented. Integration in the EGI/fedcloud infrastructure is examined
and technical challenges and the proposed solutions are shown.
The end result is an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) integrated in
EGI/fedcloud easy to operate and maintain
