 do\, e compreender o universo. A física de partículas está na fronteira
  da compreensão do infinitamente pequeno\, mas liga-se ao infinitamente g
 rande\, porque nos primeiros instantes\, o universo era também ele pequen
 o. Neste contexto\, a Teoria Padrão (uma teoria quântica) tem tido suces
 sos retumbantes a prever o que medimos experimentalmente. Não obstante\, 
 muito continua por explicar e\, agora mais que nunca\, sabemos que há alg
 o de novo que queremos descobrir. E o desafio é tanto maior por não sabe
 rmos exactamente como complementar a Teoria Padrão. É neste contexto que
  vamos rever o estado da física de partículas\, incluindo a descoberta d
 o bosão de Higgs\, a ligação aos mistérios do universo\, e o futuro qu
