Neural networks are becoming increasingly wide spread, however there remains a temptation to treat them as 'black-box' methods. During this seminar I will be introducing neural networks in terms of the relatively simple underlying mathematics. I will also describe how neural networks have evolved, and explain why these changes lead to them becoming more performant.
