DESCRIPTION:The neutrino groupSpeaker: Prof. José Maneira (FCUL\, LIP)\nE
xperimental neutrino physics in Portugal started at LIP\, with the partici
pation in the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO). The SNO+ collaboration w
as also being formed in those early years and we joined from the start. Ov
er time the group grew and we also joined the Deep Underground Neutrino Ex
periment (DUNE) in 2018. This talk will revisit the history of the group\,
tracing back the people that joined our path over the years and highlight
ing a few of our activities and the connections we established. From SNO to
SNO+Speaker: Prof. Mark Chen (Queen's University)The goal to prove that t
he Sun is powered by nuclear reactions was achieved roughly 50 years ago\,
but gave birth to a puzzle: why was there a deficit in the flux of solar
neutrinos detected? This “solar neutrino problem" was solved by the Sudb
ury Neutrino Observatory (SNO) via the discovery of neutrino oscillations.
This talk will look back on the journey completed by SNO that then led to
the successor SNO+ experiment\, conceived to further study neutrinos and
their properties. Results from two phases of SNO+ will be highlighted in t
his talk.\n \nDuneSpeaker: Prof. José Maneira (FCUL\, LIP)DUNE is one of
the two world's flagship neutrino physics experiments\, aiming at a compr
ehensive and amibitious set of neutrino oscillation measurements\, in addi
tion to a rich non-accelerator physics program. After a very successful pr
ototyping program at CERN\, construction of DUNE Phase I is moving full-sp
eed ahead\, and LIP is strongly involved in the Far Detector calibrations.
This talk will provide a brief overview of the physics goals and technolo
gy developments of DUNE\, including the LIP contributions.\n\nhttps://indi
