The LHC has just ended (this weekend) its 10th data-taking year. The CMS experiment is conducting a comprehensive physics program, exploring larger and increasingly sensitive datasets. The LHC and the experiments are soon entering a high luminosity-phase, where a 10-fold increase in the accumulated dataset is expected. I will present recent results by the CMS collaboration. Examples will be given that illustrate the broad physics reach, and the enhancement of physics sensitivity, facilitated by novel data taking paradigms and analysis methods, well surpassing expectation from simple luminosity scaling.
