The measurement of the top quark properties is an important test of the Standard Model of Particle Physics and may also provide a window to new physics. The LHC data allowed to significantly increase the number of top quark events for analysis, improving our knowledge about this quark. The single and pair production of top quarks will be discussed and the measurements of different top quark properties by the ATLAS experiment will be presented. The phenomenological implications of such measurements and some future prespectives will also be addressed.
